The 2022 Nissan 370Z is the Japanese automaker’s most well-known sports car. This comes as no surprise, considering that, for many years now, it has been the joy of those who love high-performance vehicles.
But the reign of the 370Z may very well end this year…at least in a manner of speaking. That is, the Z as we currently know it will be replaced by another sports car with a silhouette that’s no less dramatic: the Z Proto.
When this retro-inspired car arrives at dealerships, it will bear a resemblance to the Z, but with a few improvements. The front end features a massive boxy grille, inspired by that of the original 240Z. Meanwhile, the rectangular tail light unit shares a good part of its style with the 300ZX from the nineties. Nevertheless, the overall appearance is modern and athletic.
Apparently it will retain the 370Z designation, at least for now, as the name is based on the powertrain under the hood of the sport coupe. On the other hand, the new generation may very well change names, as there are plans to introduce the 400 hp twin-turbo V6 engine currently found on other premium models in the Nissan lineup.
Another bit of good news for those who prefer a more dynamic driving experience: the Nissan Z Proto turned 400Z will be available with a manual transmission. However, it will also be offered with an automatic transmission.
Among the other anticipated changes for the new generation Nissan 370Z is a new passenger compartment configuration. We’re particularly looking forward to an all-new version of the infotainment system.
A large touchscreen will crown the center of the dashboard. However, to facilitate operation, the audio controls, like those of the 370Z, will probably remain on the steering wheel.
The 2022 model in the form of a sport coupe will be arriving at your Solution Nissan dealership around the beginning of the year. In the following months, a convertible version should also be making its appearance.
