When you know success like that of the Nissan Rogue, you don’t rest on your laurels. Completely reconceived last year, with a new platform and a more refined design, the Nissan Rogue enters the 2022 model year with a more efficient powertrain. However, it retains all of the qualities that have enabled it to dominate Nissan’s sales over the course of the past year.
The greatest novelty is the inclusion of a new 1.5 L 3-cylinder engine that exploits variable compression technology. Nissan had previously fine-tuned this technology in its luxury vehicles, but it has now made a notable appearance on Canadian soil in the automaker’s SUVs.
Nissan has paired this new turbo engine with a newly engineered Xtronic transmission for improved responsiveness. The engine also offers enhanced power, the best fuel economy in its class and a more thrilling driving experience, thanks to increased agility and speed.
The vehicle’s power has also gotten a boost, as the new powertrain can deliver 201 horsepower and 225 pound-feet of torque with ease. However, just because it has more power doesn’t mean that it uses more fuel. In fact, the engine’s variable compression technology enables the Nissan Rogue to offer average fuel consumption of 7.6 liters per 100 kilometers in the all-wheel drive versions.
We should clarify that the 2.5 L 4-cylinder engine is still available in entry-level models.
The 2022 Nissan Rogue follows along the same lines as the previous year’s model. Nevertheless, it sets itself apart from its rivals, mainly because of a more elaborate front end with LED headlights built in to the bumper.
The refined, roomy cabin of the 2022 Nissan Rogue base model comes standard with the Nissan Connect infotainment system, including an 8-inch touchscreen. Meanwhile, the premium models boast a slightly larger 9-inch screen. Both infotainment systems are equally user-friendly, and the quality of the display and sensitivity of the touchscreen are exceptional.
Of course, there’s no shortage of safety features in the new 2022 Nissan Rogue. It’s equipped with all the latest safety technologies, including Automatic Emergency Braking, Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and much more.
Refined, economical and safe, the 2022 Nissan Rogue stands out from the competition. And you’ll stand out, too, when you’re behind the wheel!
