The Nissan Z Proto: the new sport coupe from Nissan

Nissan Z Proto

It was back in 1969 when Nissan first began offering sports cars to the public, starting with the 240Z, 260Z and 280Z, followed by the 280ZX in 1979, the 300ZX in 1984 and finally the popular 350Z and 370Z. Some 1.35 million models later, we’re now seeing the debut of a new generation that will proudly bear the magic letter: the Nissan Z Proto.

The Nissan Z Proto: an old soul with a new look

Nissan hasn’t broken with its proprietary design. However, the Nissan Z Proto’s greatest assets will come in a particularly modern, reconceived package. The rounded LED headlights give a nod to the 240Z, while the silhouette retains an elongated hood and shortened trunk with a roofline that plunges toward the rear. Inspired by the traditional models, the Z Proto with its six-speed manual transmission, twin-turbo V6 engine and three round gauges in the center of the dashboard will surely please numerous enthusiasts accustomed to a sporty driving experience. Nevertheless, the cockpit offers a full range of cutting-edge technologies, including a digital dash, a central 12.3-inch touchscreen, numerous steering-wheel-mounted controls and seats with yellow piping that harmonizes with the gleaming body of the Z Proto.

You’ll never tire of hearing the purr of the Nissan Z Proto’s twin-turbo V6 engine through the dual exhaust pipes, which blend perfectly with the carbon-fiber accents and 19-inch rims. We estimate that the Z Proto will deliver around 400 horsepower, like the Infiniti Q50 and Q60 Red Sport 400.

The Nissan Z Proto remains a prototype, but with this model, Nissan is revealing the broad strokes of the automaker’s next generation of sports vehicles. Learn more about this automotive gem at Solution Nissan in Châteauguay.
