The 2022 Nissan Leaf is one of the best-selling all-electric cars in the world. Since its first generation, it has offered a practical, affordable zero-emission solution to drivers concerned about the environment. And the 2022 Nissan Leaf will follow in the same tradition. At least according to all available information.
For this year, the little car doesn’t have any major changes on the menu. Having been totally reworked for the 2020 model, the new Nissan Leaf will maintain its modern sedan appearance, making the most of its aerodynamic silhouette to increase its range.
The 2022 Nissan Leaf comes in two versions. The SV base model features a 40 kWh battery, giving it a range of 241 kilometers. Meanwhile, the 147-horsepower engine moves the little sedan with total confidence.
As for the Plus models (S, SV and SL), they’re powered by a 62 kWh lithium-ion battery. This extra boost gives them a range of 363 kilometers, while providing 214 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque. The battery can also be recharged to 80 percent capacity in less than an hour on a fast charging terminal.
What sets Nissan—and especially the 2022 Leaf—apart is that the company has found not only ways to create vehicles that run without emissions but also ways to recycle their batteries. But for now, this option is only offered on the Nissan Leafs sold in Japan.
In practical terms, Nissan recoups the previous-generation Leafs. Since their batteries are particularly durable, the automaker wanted to find a solution in order to reuse them. To do this, Nissan turned to 4R technology.
The way it works is simple. They remove the batteries from the old Leafs and evaluate them. If a battery is rated A, the highest rating, it’s simply recycled to be reused in a 2022 Nissan Leaf.
If a battery is rated B, it will be sent to the industrial sector, where it will be used on vehicles like electric carts.
And if it’s rated C, it will simply be used in conjunction with solar panels or wind turbines to accumulate electricity and power homes.
So when you buy a 2022 Nissan Leaf at Solution Nissan, you’re getting more than just a zero-emission vehicle. You’re also getting a battery that could last you nearly a lifetime.
